The Rice Paddies of Maligcong

We didn't even have secured bus tickets when we left for Maligcong for my birthday. The journey was long and rough, but the mountains and rice terraces waiting for us made it worth it.

For my birthday, my friend and I decided to go to Maligcong in Mountain Province. We didn’t even secure our bus tickets in advance, which was probably not the smartest thing to do, but luckily, we still managed to get a ride.

Getting there was another story. The trip was long and the transportation was rough. It was one of those journeys where you start questioning your decisions somewhere along the way. But after spending hours on the road, we finally made it to Maligcong. And it was worth it.

The Maligcong Rice Terraces were beautiful, especially with the mountains and fog surrounding them. We walked around, took photos, and just enjoyed being somewhere completely different for my birthday. We also climbed Mt. Fato and Mt. Kupapey during the trip.

We were actually supposed to continue to Batad to see Batad Falls, but by then, we were already exhausted from the long travel and all the walking and hiking. We decided to shorten the trip instead and skip Batad. As much as we wanted to go, sometimes you just have to admit that you are tired and that it’s okay not to follow everything you originally planned.
